This is a rare 'jinbaori', vest worn by samurai. It was worn over armor at the battlefield. It is from Edo Priod( 1603-1867).
This piece is made of thick cotton and gorgeous kinran fabric is added in the lapel. In the back, kamon and dragon motif are patchworked and embroidered. Please enjoy its stunning details with more photos.
It is from more than 130 years ago, and many stains and patinas. There is a repaired tear in the neck and embroidery parts have some small holes and uneven parts. We can not say it is in very good condition, but it is still very valuable piece!
